GVA Grimley, have appointed Mike Jeffries, the current Chairman of Wembley National Stadium Ltd and VT Group plc, to chair its Board of Directors following its conversion to a limited company and £40m investment by Lloyds Development Capital in November 2007.
From May 1st, Mike Jeffries will replace Ian Stringer as Chairman of the Board and Ian Stringer will take over from Malcolm Gloster as Regional Senior Director of GVA Grimley’s Birmingham office.
Mike Jeffries has a distinguished and successful career in property and construction businesses being formerly Chairman of WS Atkins plc and NCP and also as a non - executive Director of De La Rue plc.
Bob Barnett, Chief Executive, GVA Grimley said of the appointment, “The Board are delighted Mike will be guiding GVA Grimley through its next phase of growth. We wanted a Chairman who had experience not only of people businesses, the property sector and construction but also of plc corporate governance, the City and private equity".
Mike Jeffries said of his appointment, “I am pleased to have been appointed as Chairman of GVA Grimley and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead for the business as they prepare themselves for further growth.
“The company’s new structure has given it a new focus amongst the Directors and also enables it to attract people to the business which will be essential for growth over the forthcoming years.
“GVA Grimley has an excellent track record, heritage and is well respected amongst it staff and clients and I look forward to working with the Board to guide it through its next phase.”
Bob Barnett also reported, "We are within a few days of our financial year end and we expect to exceed last year’s fee income by over 5% and profit by over 10% which is a very creditable performance in the current uncertain economic climate. Whilst our Capital Markets business will not match last year’s fee income, all our consultancy businesses are performing ahead of budget. With over 50% of fee income derived from outside London and 70% from consultancy, our mix of business means we are well positioned to emerge strongly from this period of uncertainty".
