GVA Grimley steps into soapland for its latest project

12/07/2005

GVA Grimley’s North West office has been appointed to advise on the sale of Brookside Close, Mersey TV’s fictional Liverpudlian cul-de-sac which was home to some of the most famous soap storylines in TV history.

Comprising 13 homes which were purchased in 1982, Brookside Close, off Deysbrook Lane in the West Derby area of Liverpool, was home to Channel 4’s most successful soap for 21 years.

The houses were purchased specifically for the series, with six out of the thirteen playing home to the street’s famous residents, whilst the rest were used for offices, make up and wardrobe. As home to the Corkhills, the Dixons and the Grants until the programme ended in 2003, the street saw more than its fair share of excitement, with its groundbreaking storylines including the infamous burial of Trevor Jordache under the patio at number 10 in 1993.

GVA Grimley and Mersey TV have produced a full bibliography of the characters who lived in each property to accompany the particulars. Rob Robinson from GVA Grimley comments: "There are very few houses on the market with such a fascinating history and we expect to receive tremendous interest. Brookside was one of the only soaps on television to have been filmed on a real street instead of a set and as such they offer purchasers the chance to own a unique piece of TV memorabilia."

Brookside Close is the latest high-profile Merseyside scheme for GVA Grimley’s North West office, following the recent opening of its Liverpool office in response to its increasing workload in the city.
