With previous experience marketing and selling historic steam engines, including the Flying Scotsman, the GVA Grimley Plant and Machinery team was the ideal candidate for the latest rail assignment. The brief from the Administrators of FM Rail, and various finance companies, was to dispose of 29 diesel locomotives, and 16 coaches, which were formerly operated by FM.
David Speight, who heads up the Manchester and National Plant Teams comments:
"This was an interesting instruction, as our sale coincided with one of the largest releases of surplus stored locomotives from English Welsh and Scottish Railways for some years. Nonetheless, a structured approach to marketing the vehicles secured a lot of interest and we were able to dispose the fleet to various buyers at prices which delighted our clients. With our ongoing valuation work in the heritage and spot hire railway markets we seem to have firmly established GVA Grimley in a niche market!"
